Route to (Garden Lodge)

  • Follow the path from the car park, turning right at the courtyard.
    Follow the path round the back of the toilet block and continue ahead until you reach the orchard.
    Turn left once in the orchard and continue ahead.
    Turn right at the fork and continue along the path to the gate.
    Once through the gate, turn right and continue ahead.
    Turn right at the fork and follow the path round the back of the house where the Garden Lodge entrance will be ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and grass.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Attraction / Exhibit

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is background noise which varies, depending on the time of day.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There is not step-free level access to the upper viewing area.
  • There are bench seats available in the area.
  • Flooring in the area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the rear of the ruins.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The very steep slope is over 150cm wide.
  • The slope overcomes the steps.
  • There are 10+ steps, which are unmarkedno handrails.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual gate which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 92cm.

Stairs

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are G and 1.
  • There are 15 steps between floors.
  • The steps are not clearly marked with a handrail on the right going up.
  • The highest step is 24cm high.
  • The stairs are open.
  • This is a spiral staircase and will be narrower in some areas.
