Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Natural Play Area)
- Exit the car park with the visitor reception and Blue Badge parking on your right.
Turn right down the tarmac path.
Come off the path and cross the grass to the open access point.
Follow the path and enter the field.
Turn left and follow the edge of the field until you see an opening with signage for White Walk.
Go over the bridge, follow the path straight ahead and the natural play area is in this area. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and muddy.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located off the White Walk.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The width of the gap is 125cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging and balancing.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located within the natural play area.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables and bench seats.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 63cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 63cm.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 66cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
- The area is very muddy.
