Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Manor House)

  • Exit the car park with the visitor reception and Blue Badge parking on your right.
    Turn right down the tarmac path.
    Follow it round to the right and carry on down the path lined with trees.
    Go through the front garden entrance on the left.
    The Manor House entrance is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (Manor House)

  • The entrance surveyed is located on the east side of the house, within the front garden.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • The width of the opening is 152cm.
  • There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 128cm.
  • The first opening has no doors.

Tour

  • The tour is self-guided but volunteers/staff are available to provide additional information.
  • The tour takes approximately 40 minutes.
  • There is stepped access along the tour route.
  • The majority of walkway widths are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • The tour can be adapted to avoid inaccessible areas.
  • Areas with stepped access only can be experienced by visitors via a virtual tour and an information booklet.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise along the tour route.
  • Tour information includes the following formats: information booklets, Braille, information board and handheld information devices.
  • Floor plans/maps are available for the tour route.
  • The tour does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • There are no seats at regular intervals along the tour.
