Route to (the Garden)

  • From the car park follow the path up the steep slope until you reach the front of the House.
    The garden entrance is to the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of the House.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The gate has a padlock.
  • The width of the gap is 120cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens and gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • There are slight slopes along the accessible path.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Toilet with Adaptations (Garden Toilet Block - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located within the toilet block in the Garden.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 83cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 170cm x 215cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 110cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the left side of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder.
