Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars and accessible maps.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Walled Garden)
- Exit visitor reception via the toilets side entrance.
Head up a long steep slope before passing through an open gate to cross the road.
After crossing the road you will pass through another permanently held open gate joining a level gravel path.
Follow the path for approximately 25 metres before taking a left turn.
Follow the level path for approximately 40 metres before entering the farmyard.
Take the right after the stable block, and continue along this path for approximately 20 metres before entering the walled garden. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located throughout the farmyard.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 106cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are some slight slopes throughout the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
