Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars and accessible maps.
  • You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Parkland and Lake)

  • Exit visitor reception via the toilets side entrance.
    Head up a long steep slope before passing through an open gate to cross the road.
    After crossing the road you will pass through another permanently held open gate joining a level gravel path.
    Follow the path for approximately 30 metres, turning left before you reach the villa.
    After turning left follow the level gravel path for approximately 70 metres before reaching the parkland and lake area.
  • The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the rear of the grounds, beyond the walled garden.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • The pathway around the lake has some slight slopes.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
