Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars and accessible maps.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Farmyard)
- Exit visitor reception via the toilets side entrance
Head up a long steep slope before passing through an open gate to cross the road.
After crossing the road you will pass through another permanently held open gate joining a level gravel path.
Follow the path for approximately 25 metres before taking a left turn.
Follow this path for approximately 40 metres and you will enter the farmyard. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located across the unnamed road, opposite visitor reception.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a grassed play area and farmland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac and gravel.

Toilet with Adaptations (Farmyard - Accessible - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located on the left as you follow the walkway to access the farmyard.
- Access into the toilet is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with handrails on both sides.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.
- The door has a twist lock.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 158cm x 298cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
