- This toilet with adaptations for disabled people is approximately 20m from the entrance to Stables Cafe.
- The standard toilets surveyed can be found next to the Stables Café.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders and fidget toys.

Route to (Stables Café)
- Leave the visitor reception by the entrance door and turn right along the road.
Proceed along the road and the Stables Café is located on the left across the road. - The route to the area includes up to 3 steps without a handrail.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is 1 step, which is unmarkedno handrails.
- The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 105cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- There is a slight ramp over 150cm wide beyond the entrance, with a handrail on the left going up.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus and menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are varied.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.

Toilet with Adaptations (Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located next to the Stables Café.
- Access into the toilet is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- This toilet is approximately 22m from the Stables cafe.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 81cm.
- The door has a locking handle (with a RADAR key to access).
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 144cm x 259cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 69cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
