Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Paved Garden, Garden in the Wood and Arboretum)

  • Turn right out the visitor reception exit and go towards the shop entrance.
    Exit the shop, turn right, go across the stables courtyard and head towards a large open archway on the right.
    Follow the gravel path to the end, signs for the house and the house will be on the left at the end of the path.
    The entrance to the paved garden, garden in the wood and arboretum are to the right of the house.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the rear right of the house.
  • Access into the area is via steps and a slight ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
  • There are 6 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails, more than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
  • Slopes and steps are located throughout the area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
