Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Kitchen Garden)
- Turn right out the visitor reception exit and go towards the shop entrance.
Exit the shop, turn right, go across the stables courtyard and head towards a large open archway on the right.
Follow the gravel path to the end, turn right back on yourself, then take the road on the left to the garden. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located at the front of the garden.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 103cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
- There are slopes and steps around the garden, but mainly near the top and rear section.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
