Route to (the Tea Room)

  • With the visitor reception to your right, head along the pathway.
    At the end of the pathway you get to the three rock houses.
    Straight ahead past Fletcher, is a set of steps that go to the right.
    There is a set of steps then a pathway to the right which is also stepped.
    There is a rest place halfway along the last set of steps.
    At the top, turn left to the tea room.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope, is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope and includes more than 3 steps with a handrail.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel, muddy, paving stones and sand.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the tea room.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 92cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a tea room which serves hot and cold snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are not easy to read (unclear font with poorly contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled mugs.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
  • The counter is 94cm high.
  • There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

  • There are tables, bench seats and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located outside the tea room.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 73cm.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.
  • Some of the tables and chairs are accessed via 2 unmarked steps.

Toilet with Adaptations (Tea Room - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located behind the tea room.
  • Access into the toilet is via steps.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • This toilet is approximately 15m from the tea room entrance.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 77cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 180cm x 145cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 125cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a push button flush on top of the cistern.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and hand dryer.
  • The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: wash basin.

  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are hand dryers.

Shop (Books)

  • Access into the shop is via a step.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 153cm.
  • Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
