Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (Kitchen Garden)
- From the Visitor Reception, proceed along the pathway and turn right into the circular garden.
Keeping the courtyard on the right and the laundry on the left, cross the circular garden and continue through the gap in the hedge.
Turn left onto the pathway with the house on the left.
At the end of this pathway, turn right onto the gravel pathway.
This pathway has slight slopes.
Proceed past the Japanese Garden to the country road.
The entrance to the Kitchen Garden is immediately across the road. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located on the south side of the Kitchen Garden, adjacent to the country road.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The width of the gap is 150cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment, formal gardens and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, loose chippings, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Playground
View
- There is a fenced play area with an entrance over 100cm wide.
- There is a route around the play equipment which is firm and even, and is at least 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is in easy reach for seated and standing users, and users of different heights.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, rocking, climbing, balancing and social play.
Entrance (Kitchen Garden - Toilet Block)
- The entrance surveyed is located on the far side of the Kitchen Garden.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 110cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- There is a mat at the entrance threshold which might be a trip hazard.
Toilet with Adaptations (Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the far left hand side corner of the Kitchen Garden.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 200m from the Kitchen Garden entrance.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 90cm.
- The door has a sliding bolt lock.
- Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 153cm x 180cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 80cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a push button flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: towel dispenser.
- The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 47cm.

Standard Toilet
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 110cm.
- Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- The shared standard toilet was surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 60cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are no hand dryers.
- There is a baby change facility which is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
