Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass and accessible maps.

Route to (the Parkland)
- From the visitor reception exit turn right and parkland area is ahead.
- The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are concrete.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located to the right of the visitor reception exit.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, loose chippings, grass and loose stones.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight and steep slopes on the paths throughout the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
Hikes and Trails (Long Walk)
- The walk is approximately 3.2 miles long.
- The long walk starts at the visitor reception and takes in the parkland and lake. It is a circular walk.
- The trail is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, loose chippings and concrete.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: along all of the walk.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is not clearly signposted.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
