  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac, loose chippings and gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are not clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • There are more than 10 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 254cm x 480cm.
  • There is a hatched zone on both sides and to the rear.

Route to (the Visitor Centre)

  • From the car park continue straight on and take the turning on the right. The visitor centre is on the right.

  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Visitor Reception

  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is automatic, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 176cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
  • All flooring is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 82cm.
  • There is not a low level section at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
