Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception or the manor. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- All-terrain wheelchairs are also available.
Route to (the Second-hand Bookshop)
- From the visitor welcome kiosk continue straight ahead down the tarmac pathway, at the end of the pathway turn right and go up the slope onto the gravel pathway.
Follow the pathway on the right around the central grassed area to the entrance to the bookshop. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Shop
- Access into the shop is via steps.
- There are 5 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 87cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is a second and third set of doors to enter the bookshop.
The second door opens away from you and is 88cm wide.
The third door opens towards you and is 80cm wide.
These doors also have a shallow step.
A donation box for payment is located to the left as you enter the bookshop.
