Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, dark tent and accessible maps.

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Estate)

  • From visitor reception, proceed through the entrance to the walled garden and turn immediately right.
    Follow the path to the gift shop and turn left. Then go through an exit to the walled garden on the right, followed by an immediate turn to the left.
    Proceed along the path past the church on the left and the gate to the estate trails will be on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, muddy and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located off the pathway with the church on the left.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The gate has a latch lock.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland and farmland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.

  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
