Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, dark tent and accessible maps.

- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Café)
- From visitor reception, proceed through the entrance to the walled garden and turn immediately right.
Follow the path to the gift shop and turn left. Then go through an exit to the walled garden on the right, followed by an immediate turn to the right.
The pathway leads into a courtyard with the café on the left. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are concrete, gravel, muddy and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance (Accessible)
- The entrance surveyed is located on the shops side of the café.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 116cm.
- There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 90cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The floor is uneven once inside the door.
Entrance (Main)
- The entrance surveyed is located on the house side of the café.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 122cm.
- There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 90cm.
- The floor is uneven once inside the entrance.
Entrance (Internal Seating Area)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the entrance to the café seating area.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There is 1 step, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
- There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 73cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are not easy to read (unclear font with poorly contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled cutlery.

- The dimensions of the cubicle are 205cm x 223cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.

- There is a baby change facility which is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The taps are mainly twist/turn, although in the female toilet there is one wash basin with a lever tap.
