Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders and accessible maps.

Route to (the Thatched Barn)
- From the visitor reception proceed down a slope, continue through an archway and turn left.
Cross the internal driveway and enter through the gates.
Proceed ahead towards the main courtyard and turn right continuing through open gates.
Continue ahead into the rear courtyard.
Proceed ahead to the end and turn right. The Thatched Barn is located on the right. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel, paving stones and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located to the right in the rear courtyard, opposite the toilet block.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double manual gates which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 240cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- There is a dipped drainage gulley in front of the entrance.
Attraction / Exhibit
- The majority of walkway widths are under 120cm.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial and information board.
- The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are bench seats available in the area.
- Flooring in the area is not smooth and even.
