Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Natural Adventure Play Area)

  • From visitor reception, follow the path ahead to the house.
    Pass the front of the house, then turn right into the courtyard.
    Exit the courtyard through the gates ahead, then follow the path to the left.
    Take the gate around the cattle grid, and take the right hand path ahead through the park.
    Pass through an easy-open gate across the path, then continue ahead.
    The entrance to the play area is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel, cobbles, paving stones and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located along the path through the estate.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, compact earth and wood.
  • Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails, less than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
  • The play area is sloped throughout.
    There are steps to various pieces of play equipment.
  • Playground View
    • There is a fenced play area with an entrance over 100cm wide.
    • There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: climbing, balancing, crawling and viewing.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in the play area.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There are bench seats and picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 71cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 73cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and bark chippings.
