Route to (the Book Shop)

  • From the visitor reception, take the path to the entrance of the hall.
    Turn left and go round the building, to the rear of the hall.
    This will bring you into the stables area.
    From the stables area, go through the archway and to the courtyard area where the book shop is.
    There is a visitor shuttle that can be used on request or in inclement weather.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, cobbles, paving stones and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Shop

  • Access into the shop is via a step.
  • There is 1 step, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 93cm.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • The shop has no counter or staff as it is on an honesty basis.
