Route to (The South Terrace)

  • From the rear of the blue badge parking, turn left and follow the path around until you reach the junction.
    At the junction, turn left and continue along the path towards the house and courtyard.
    Before entering the courtyard, turn right and follow the slight upwards slope towards the South Terrace.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • View information about Ham House - House (opens in new tab).
  • This is the most accessible route to the South Terrace.
    There is also step-free access via slight slope to the South Terrace from the Cherry Garden. Alternative routes to the South Terrace from Ham House and its gardens is via steps.

Outdoor Spaces (The South Terrace)

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of Ham House, in between the courtyard and the Orangery Café.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located in the Cherry Garden there are 2 slight slopes to access the South Terrace.
    From the main courtyard there is a single entrance door with a step in the threshold to access the South Terrace. The width of the door is 93cm.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • There are 3 sets of 10 unmarked steps without handrails from the South Terrace to access The Plats.

Route to (The Plats)

  • From the rear of the blue badge parking, turn left and follow the path round to the right until you reach the rear of the Orangery Café building.
    Continue along to the rear right of the café and down the steep slope into the Kitchen Garden.
    After the entrance to the Kitchen Garden, turn left along the Orangery Café outdoor seating area.
    At the rear of the seating area, turn right and the entrance to The Plats is along the wall and to the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • View information about Ham House - Kitchen Garden (opens in new tab).
  • This is the most accessible route to The Plats.
    There is additional level access to The Plats at the rear of the Kitchen Garden via an open gate, however this route is longer.
    All other alternative routes are via stepped access from the South Terrace.

Outdoor Spaces (The Plats)

  • This information is for the access point located along the wall to the left as you face the Kitchen Garden.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located at the rear of the Kitchen Garden. There is level access via a gate that is permanently held open and over 180cm wide.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 153cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
