Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Area)
- The area is accessed from the car parks.
- The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, muddy and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located in the main car park.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, bonded gravel, compact earth, shingle and loose stones.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are more than 3 steps without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- There are many slight/steep slopes and steps throughout the estate.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
Hikes and Trails (Mrs Johnes' Flower Garden to Viewpoint)
- The trail is approximately 60 metres long.
- Pass through the exit gate from the flower garden and follow the path.
Take a sharp left and a bench and the viewpoint will be directly ahead. - The hike is open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: compacted gravel.
- The route is not clearly signposted.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
Hikes and Trails (Blue Trail to River Picnic Area)
- The trail is approximately 70 metres long.
- From the left of the accessible car park follow the right hand zig-zag path down to the river.
Follow the path until you come to a picnic area. The path then becomes inaccessible after this point. - The hike is open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: compacted gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients.
- These are found in the following areas: on the initial part of the path just after leaving the car park.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is not clearly signposted.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
Picnic Area (Blue Trail)
- The following information describes the picnic area located at the end of the short trail, next to the river.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 74cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 74cm.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 79cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.
- There are also protruding roots which causes the flooring to be uneven.
