Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and magnifying glass.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: an off-road/all-terrain mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Courtyard and Tea-room)
- Exit the car park to the left and follow the path ahead.
At the fork turn left and continue ahead.
The courtyard entrance will be ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Entrance (Courtyard)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the courtyard area.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double manual gates which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 304cm.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located inside the courtyard.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 69cm.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 70cm.
- The surface height of the highest table is 72cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to cobbles.
Entrance (Tea-room)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building off the courtyard.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 146cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: takeaway cups, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
- The counter is 92cm high.
- There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- There is step-free level access around the seating area.

Toilet with Adaptations (Courtyard Toilet Block - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located on the left side of the toilet block off the courtyard.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 11m from the courtyard entrance.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 73cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 133cm x 212cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
- The lateral transfer space is 64cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
