Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and running buggies. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • A visitor shuttle is available to take people from the car park to the visitor reception.

Route to (the Camellia Garden)

  • Exit the visitor reception through the archway into the cobbled courtyard.
    Go past the toilets and shops and continue to the front of the house.
    Pass the house and go down the steps and a very steep slope to the left.
    At the bottom turn left and follow the path around to the right.
    There will be an open access point to the garden.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope and includes more than 3 steps without a handrail.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the left as you face the front of the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The width of the gap is 122cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
