Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and running buggies. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- A visitor shuttle is available to take people from the car park to the visitor reception.
Route to (the Boathouse)
- Exit the visitor reception through the archway into the cobbled courtyard.
Continue past the toilets and the shops to the rear of the house.
Take the level path to the left, this is the middle path on the map.
Follow this path until the end and take a steep path on the right.
Continue along this path until you come to the steps which lead down to the Boathouse. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope and includes more than 3 steps with a handrail.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the boathouse.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There are 10+ steps, which are unmarkeda handrail on the right going down.
- The handrail covers all steps.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 86cm.
Attraction / Exhibit (The Boathouse)
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are tables, armchairs, sofas and chairs without armrests available in the area.
- Some flooring in the area is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven floorboards.
- Lighting levels are low.
