Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the welcome hut. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- There are charges to borrow a tramper.
- Walking poles and umbrellas are also available to borrow from the welcome hut.
Route to (the Garden)
- Pass through the open gate to the left of the welcome hut, the gate has a width of 152cm.
Continue straight down the gravel path through another open gate with a width of 220cm.
You will now be at the top part of the garden. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located past the welcome hut.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor facilities also include: a maze.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, cobbled, grass, gravel and bonded gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
- There are steep slopes and steps in various areas of the garden on the right hand side as you go down.
A step-free path is available on the left hand side of the garden as you go down. - There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
- There are a number of information boards at the top of the garden, to the left after the welcome hut.
Hikes and Trails
- The trail is approximately 0.75 miles long.
- After the second set of gates from the welcome hut, follow the gravel path down a steep slope.
Follow the purple signs which will take you to the bottom of the garden. This route is step-free and steep in places.
Continue past the boat seat on the left.
At the bottom there is an open gate with a width of 210cm which leads to Durgan Village and the beach.
Trace the route back to the top of the garden. - The trail is not open 24 hours.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, cobbled, gravel and bonded gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients.
- These are found in the following areas: in various areas.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is clearly signposted.
- The route has online maps.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
