Route to (the Strawberry Castle Play Area)

  • Exit the visitor reception, turn left and head up the raised walkway to Market Place. There is a steep slope at the end of the walkway which overcomes the steps.
    Head towards the rear right of Market Place.
    Continue along the path, past the chapel and continue ahead to the play area.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and wood.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • The visitor shuttle can take visitors to Market Place.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located along the path leading from Market Place.
  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, grass and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.

Toilet with Adaptations (Strawberry Castle Play Area - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located in the play area.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 105cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 172cm x 236cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 104cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a push button flush on the right transfer side.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder.
  • The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: wash basin, soap dispenser and hand dryer.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 42cm.
