Route to (the Market Place Eateries)

  • Exit the visitor reception and turn left.
    Continue ahead over the raised walkway to the Market Place.
    The café is located on the left and National Crust Pizza is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and wood.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Toilet with Adaptations (Market Place - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located on the right side of Market Place.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 92cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 260cm x 167cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 179cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the right transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.

Entrance (National Crust Pizza)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front left of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 105cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is also a single manual door to enter the café on the right.

Eating and Drinking (National Crust Pizza)

  • This is a café which serves pizza.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.

  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the left going up.
  • The handrail covers all steps.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 82cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.

Eating and Drinking (Café)

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.

  • Some chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 67cm.
  • The surface height of the lowest table is 75cm.
  • The surface height of the highest table is 75cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: some of the chairs and some of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.
