Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Chapel)

  • Exit the visitor reception, turn left and head up the raised walkway to Market Place. There is a steep slope at the end of the walkway which overcomes the steps.
    Head towards the rear right of Market Place.
    Continue along the path and turn left on the pathway that leads to the steps of the chapel.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and wood.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
  • The visitor shuttle can take visitors to the Market Place area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the chapel.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 112cm.
  • There is a stair climber to overcome the steps.
  • There are steps on the left and right of the chapel leading to the entrance.
    There are balustrades at these steps to aid support.
    There is a curtain at the entrance to stop birds entering the chapel.

Event Space (Chapel)

  • There is step-free level access around the space.
  • Some flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • Lighting levels are low.
  • There are chairs without armrests available in the space.
  • The space does not have a hearing assistance system.
