Route to (the Old Stables Tearoom)

  • From the visitor reception exit, head up the main path to the right.
    At the Discovery Cabin, take the lower path and follow it all the way round, up a steep slope, and the tearoom is ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • The visitor shuttle can take people to the top of the main steep slope, but not all the way to the tearoom.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in front of the tearoom.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 65cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 71cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 71cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and grass.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The steep ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 86cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a tea room which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled cutlery.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • There is a counter over 85cm high with a tray rail.
  • The counter is 92cm high.
  • There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • There is step-free level access around the seating area.
  • There are tables and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests available in the seating area.
  • The seating area does not have: a priority table.
  • Tables are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The surface height of the tables is 75cm.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.

Exit

  • The exit is located at the far end of the seating area.

  • The ramp is steep and between 75cm and 150cm wide.
  • The ramp does not have handrails.

Toilet with Adaptations (Old Stables Tearoom - Accessible - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located around to the right side of the building.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 10m from the tearoom entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 93cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 194cm x 265cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 124cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the non transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the left side of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.

  • The cubicle has: a waste bin without lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
  • The cubicle does not have a full length mirror.
  • The height of the coat hook is 123cm from the floor.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the dropdown rail and the floor.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door and the toilet seat.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Standard Toilet (Old Stables Tearoom)

  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 96cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The male standard toilet was surveyed.
  • There is also a female toilet in the same location.
  • The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 72cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is push.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are hand dryers.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Old Stables Tearoom)

  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 85cm.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • The height of the baby change table is 102cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • There is no seating available in the room.
  • Waste bins include: a nappy bin and a general waste bin without lid.
