Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets, soft toy and communication cards.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- Adult and child sensory packs are available.
Route to (Tea Room)
- Exit the car park at the front and follow the path down and then at the fork take the left path.
The entrance to the shop is ahead.
Enter the shop and the tea room is located on the first floor. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 85cm.
- The entrance opening has a minimum height of 200cm.
- There is a second manual door which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- The second opening does not have a minimum height of 200cm.
- The second opening height is 194cm.
Eating and Drinking (Tea Room)
- This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
- Access into the area is via steps.
- There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: large print menus, handheld menus and written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled mugs.
- Lighting levels are low.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.

Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located in front of the hall and in the meadow.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 70cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and grass.
- The picnic benches in the meadow are not accessible.
