Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets, soft toy and communication cards.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • Adult and child sensory packs are available.

Route to (Meadow Walk)

  • Exit the car park at the front.
    Take the path immediately on the left.
    Continue down the steep slope and access to the meadow walk is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, muddy and grass.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The access points to the area are located on the left and at the rear of the hall.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland and woodland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slopes leading to the meadow walk.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Hikes and Trails (Meadow Walk)

  • The walk is approximately half a mile.
  • The route goes around the meadow and picnic area.
  • The hike is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass and mud.
  • Some of the route contains very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: the paths on the walk are grassy and uneven in places.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
