Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- The tramper can be pre-booked to guarantee availability by phone or email.
If it's not pre-booked it can be hired on the day.
Only allow 1 booking is available per day, with no time limit on booking or use.
Users must be over 14 years old.
The venue is not a part of any pre-approval tramper schemes.
Route to (the Play Area)
- From the visitor centre follow the main drive downhill until you reach a crossroads.
Take a right turn and follow the hill down and then up towards the Old Lodge Café. The gate into the playground area is on the left. - The route to the area is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located on the right hand side of the Old Lodge Café.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens both ways.
- The gate is self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The width of the gap is 95cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground and a playground with play equipment.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- The slight slope is beyond the gate.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Playground

- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is in easy reach for seated and standing users, and users of different heights.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging, rocking, rotating, climbing and balancing.
