Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Parkland)

  • From the visitor reception go down the hill with the car park on the left.
    The gate to enter the outdoor space will be approximately halfway down.
    The gate to enter the picnic area is also here, a little closer to the visitor reception.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located opposite the car park.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 100cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight and steep slopes throughout the area.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located opposite the car park.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 70cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 70cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 76cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
  • There are double gates which are permanently held open to access the picnic area.
