Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass, activity sheets and communication cards.

Route to (the Brewhouse Courtyard Second-hand Bookshop)

  • Bear left after exiting visitor reception and go through the gap at the far end of the large wall.
    Follow the path, then turn left at the end of the building and go through the archway.
    Turn right, then after a short way bear right and the bookshop will be on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Shop

  • Access into the shop is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 71cm.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
  • Flooring in the shop is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 90cm.
  • There is not a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The counter has windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
  • The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
