Route to (the Tarmac Path Gate)

  • From the upper car park take the tarmac path to the rear of the coffee shop building along to the right until you reach the nearby gate.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of the farm gate.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a swing gate at the surveyed access point.
  • The gate is self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 129cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: farmland and open countryside.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: moorland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, grass and gravel.

    There are views over Belfast for most of the route beyond the television/radio transmission station.

  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac and loose chippings.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients.
  • These are found in the following areas: at the final ascent to the summit (which is approximately 400 metres long).
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

  • The trail is approximately 2.5 miles long.
  • The summit trail takes the gravel path to the left off the tarmac path near the coffee shop and upper car park.

  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, loose chippings, gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients, steps and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: at the upper parts of the trail.
