Route to (the Boardwalk)

  • Turn right out of the main car park and follow a tarmac track downhill for approximately 200 metres.
    Pass the former Deer House (now a holiday cottage) on the left.
    Follow the road downhill. Once at the bottom you will reach the Blue Badge parking area for the Boardwalk.
    Once here turn right through the gate and then you can follow the boardwalk to the mill pond.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Parking (Blue Badge Holders)

  • This site has a car park.
  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac and compacted gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • Maps and information boards are not available.

  • Obstacles from the car park include: uneven surfaces and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.

  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.

  • At the start of the route there is a manual gate to overcome, following this a is a small section of a compact gravel path with a slightly sloping descent.
    After this the boardwalk continues on a flat even surface throughout the walk with many seating areas along the route.

  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: compacted gravel and wood.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
