Picnic Area (Main Car Park)
- The following information describes the picnic area located at the side of the car park.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 74cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- All of the surface in the picnic area is smooth and even.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair and cycles. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and soft toy.

Entrance (Visitor Centre Rear)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the corner of the inner courtyard, by the accessible parking.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double automatic doors (with one door locked) which opens away from you.
- The door is activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users (between 75cm - 100cm).
- The width of the opening is 96cm.
Visitor Centre
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 87cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- There is step-free level access around the visitor centre.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the visitor centre.
- Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
- Some of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.

- This toilet is located ahead from the rear entrance then to the right, past the reception counter, to the right, along the corridor and on the left.

- This toilet is approximately 20m from the rear entrance.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 86cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 186cm x 175cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 114cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Visitor Centre)
- There is step-free level access into the room.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 78cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The height of the baby change table is 65cm.
- The wash basin tap type is push.
- There is a chair without armrests available in the room.
- Waste bins include: a nappy bin.
Standard Shower (Visitor Centre)
- There is step-free level access into the shower facilities.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 72cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is an adjustable, detachable shower head not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The shower controls are twist turn.
- There is no shower seat.
- There is a 9cm high step into the shower tray.
Ramp or Slope (to the Campers Toilet Block)
- The slope is steep and over 150cm wide.
Toilet with Adaptations (Campers Toilet Block - Accessible - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located at the left of the toilet block, at the top of the main car park.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 91cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 255cm x 343cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
- The lateral transfer space is 189cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
