Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Estate)
- Leave the visitor centre by the front entrance, and follow the path to the first turning on the right.
Take the path to the right and the estate is ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located on the path leading around the visitor centre.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: open countryside.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac and grass.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.

Hikes and Trails (To the Old Castle)

Follow the path, then turn right.
Turn right once past the visitor centre building, and take the path to the left through the woodland.
Follow this path to the old castle.
Take the same path back to the visitor centre to return. - The hike is open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass and gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients.
- These are found in the following areas: as the path goes around the visitor centre.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.

Outdoor Spaces (The Old Castle)

- The outdoor facilities also include: the old castle ruins.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, grass and block paving.
- Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails, less than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
- There are more than 3 steps down from the arch to the lake shore.

Entrance (Stable Yard Toilet Block)
- The entrance surveyed is located in the stable yard, to the left of the rangers' office.

Toilet with Adaptations (Stable Yard Toilet Block - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located ahead from the toilet block entrance.

- This toilet is approximately 2m from the toilet block entrance.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.

- The dimensions of the cubicle are 195cm x 295cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
