Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Parkland and Natural Play Area)

  • Exit the visitor reception and take the pathway to the right up a steep slope.
    Cross the driveway and continue to the right towards the gate and cattle grid.
    Access to the area is via a kissing gate to the left of the cattle grid.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and muddy.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
  • The visitor shuttle can carry a folded manual wheelchair.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located en route to the tea room, to the left of a cattle grid.
  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a kissing gate at the surveyed access point.
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 94cm.
  • From the kissing gate there is a steep slope that takes you up towards the outside areas and onto the entry into the outdoor play area.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment, a grassed play area, parkland and open countryside.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • The area has slight slopes around the play equipment.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates and kissing gates which may create obstacles for some users.
  • Playground View
    • There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: swinging, climbing, balancing and viewing.

Hikes and Trails (Fishpool Dingle Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 1.5 miles long.
  • This route goes through a wooded valley, following some forest paths and natural tracks which have both slight and steep slopes.
  • The walk is not open 24 hours.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass and gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: throughout the walk.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps, handheld maps and online maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
  • There are five walks available, each of varying lengths and difficulty.
    A detailed map of all walks is available from the visitor reception.
    There are colour coded bollards to guide people to a specific walk.
