Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, magnifying glass and activity sheets.

- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Visitor Centre)
- From the upper level of the main car park, turn right and take the path down.
At the end of the path turn right and the visitor centre is ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Visitor Centre
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The width of the door opening is 245cm.
- There is step-free level access around the visitor centre.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) within the majority of the visitor centre.
- Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
- There are tables and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests available in the visitor centre.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
Entrance (Toilet Area)
- The entrance surveyed is located on the right after you enter through the visitor centre arch.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The slight ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 95cm.
Toilet with Adaptations (Visitor Centre - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located on the right after you enter through the visitor centre arch.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 3m from the toilet area entrance.
- There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 97cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 147cm x 176cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 85cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Visitor Centre)
- There is step-free level access into the room.

- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- The height of the baby change table is 74cm.
- There is no seating available in the room.
- Waste bins include: a nappy bin.
