- Toilet and changing facilities available include: a toilet with some adaptations and step free standard toilets.
- The toilet with adaptations for disabled people surveyed can be found on the left of the adventure play area.
- The standard toilets surveyed can be found on the left of the adventure play area.
- Crozier car park is near the adventure play area and kiosk.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, magnifying glass and activity sheets.
- You can borrow these from the shop, business support or the house. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Outdoor Spaces
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- The access points to the area are located at the front and the left side of the adventure play area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The width of the gap is 120cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark and loose stones.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.

- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is in easy reach for seated and standing users, and users of different heights.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, climbing, balancing and crawling.
Toilet with Adaptations (Adventure Play Area - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located on the left of the adventure play area.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 97cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 173cm x 214cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 105cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the transfer side, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.
- There is no dropdown rail.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser and towel dispenser.
- The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 46cm.
- The height of the toilet roll holder is 107cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The height of the wash basin is 79cm.
- The height of the soap dispenser is 116cm.
- The height of the towel dispenser is 115cm.
- The height of the baby change is 101cm.
- There is no emergency alarm.
- There is not a shelf.
- The cubicle has: a waste bin without lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
- The cubicle does not have a full length mirror.
- There are coat hooks in the toilet at 100cm and 138cm from the floor.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the internal door and the floor.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the toilet seat.
- Lighting levels are low.
Standard Toilet (Adventure Play Area)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 86cm.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 78cm.
- The wash basin tap type is push.
- Lighting levels are low.
- There are no hand dryers.
- There is a baby change facility which is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
