Route to (the Upper Gardens and Orchards)

  • From visitor reception, exit via the door on the left.
    Follow the gravel path around via the ramp or steps.
    Continue straight ahead until the grassy roundabout, turn left and continue straight ahead up the cobbled path.
    Then go left at the forked junction up the slope to the gated archway access point for the gardens.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, cobbles and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located on the left side of the gardens.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the gap is 85cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are steep slopes along the outer edges of the pond.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
