Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the welcome centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (to West Wood)
- Turn left as you exit the welcome centre and head up the slight hill for approximately 8 metres.
Take the next right following the steeply sloped path down.
At the bottom of the hill take a left turn.
Pass through the meadows on the right and go along the pathway for approximately 100 metres before you head and up a very steep path into west wood. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope, is step-free via a steep ramp/slope and is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located off the pathway through the meadows.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: block paving and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
- There are multiple slight, steep and stepped paths around some of the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
