Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs, a running buggy and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the Information Centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • All mobility equipment is available to borrow free of charge.
    There is also a free shuttle bus that visitors can request to take them to the Conservatory Café or riverside.
    The shuttle bus is wheelchair accessible.
    There are securing clamps inside to secure wheelchairs.
    The shuttle bus has a working hearing loop.

Route to (Shop and Plant Centre)

  • From the blue badge parking bays, continue towards the Gas Yard and turn right after the bollards.
    Follow the path towards the pedestrian crossing and cross the road.
    After the road crossing, carry on along the slight downwards slope until you reach the entrance of the Shop and Plant Centre on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Shop (Shop and Plant Centre)

  • Access into the shop is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is automatic, opens by sliding and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
