Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs, a running buggy and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Information Centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- All mobility equipment is available to borrow free of charge.
There is also a free shuttle bus that visitors can request to take them to the Conservatory Café or riverside.
The shuttle bus is wheelchair accessible.
There are securing clamps inside to secure wheelchairs.
The shuttle bus has a working hearing loop.
Route to (Rose Garden)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and continue straight through the gates to the rest of the Cliveden Estate grounds.
After the gate, turn right and follow the road round to the left until you reach the junction at the top.
At the junction, turn right and right again and follow the path until you reach the Rose Garden on the right. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- View information about Cliveden - Conservatory Café (opens in new tab).
- This is the most accessible route to the Rose Garden.
The visitor shuttle can take visitors up the drive and then stops just before the Conservatory Café.
After this, visitors will need to make their way towards the Rose Garden.
Outdoor Spaces (Rose Garden)
- This information is for the access point located along the path leading up to the Rose Garden.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located off the walkway leading from Long Garden and Ilex Grove towards Cliveden House. The gate opens away from you (push) and is 116cm wide.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The width of the gap is 114cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (Long Garden)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and follow the path towards the gate to the Cliveden Estate grounds.
After the gate, turn right and continue straight until you reach the water fountain.
At the water fountain, follow the path on the right and the Long Garden is located at the end of this path. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
- View information about Cliveden - Shop, Plant Centre and Second Hand Book Shop (opens in new tab).
- This is the most accessible route to the Long Garden.
Outdoor Spaces (Long Garden)
- This information is for the access point located after the slight slope leading from the water fountain into Long Garden.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located at both ends of the garden.
Both access points have double gates that open away from you (push).
With one side open, the gate at the fountain end of the Long Garden is 95cm wide and the gate (with one side open) at the Ilex Grove end is 104cm wide. - There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The width of the gap is 95cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, artificial grass and block paving.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- There is a gate to access Ilex Grove to the left of the Long Garden.
Route to (Ilex Grove)
- From the Information Centre, turn right and follow the path towards the gate to the Cliveden Estate grounds.
After the gate, turn right and continue straight until you reach the water fountain.
At the water fountain, follow the path on the right and the Long Garden is located at the end of this path.
Continue through the Long Garden until you reach the centre, and the access gate to enter Ilex Grove is located on the left.
Alternatively, continue through the Long Garden to the end, through the gate, and into the Blenheim Pavilion end of the Ilex Grove. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete, gravel and cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
- View information about Cliveden - Shop, Plant Centre and Second Hand Book Shop (opens in new tab).
- This is the most accessible route to Ilex Grove.
Outdoor Spaces (Ilex Grove)
- This information is for the access point located within the Long Garden, to the left.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The width of the gap is 120cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, artificial grass, gravel and uncompacted earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight slopes around the grass area and on some of the paths.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- To enter the Ilex Grove, without leaving a path, continue to the far end of the Long Garden and pass through the gate at the end and into the Blenheim Pavilion end of the Ilex Grove.
