Route to (the Time Line Room)

  • From the Visitor Centre, cross the road using the dropped kerbs and enter the main property gate.
    There is a slight slope either side of the road.
    Continue 10m along the gravel path and either take the shuttle bus to the house, or continue on the gravel path to the Gatehouse.
    The Gatehouse is halfway between the Time Line Room entrance and the House.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the Gatehouse, on the left side of the inner arch.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarkedno handrails.
  • The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 101cm.

Attraction / Exhibit

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is background noise here.
  • Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial, information board, television/screen and subtitles.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats available in the area.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • The majority of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.

Toilet with Adaptations (Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located along the path to the left, just before the Gate House.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 28m from the Time Line Room entrance.
  • There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 84cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 237cm x 185cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 165cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.
