Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: trampers. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- There is no charge although a donation is appreciated for upkeep of the equipment.
Route to (West Park)
- From the visitor centre, cross the road using the dropped kerbs and enter the main property gate.
There is a slight slope either side of the road.
Continue ahead 10m along the gravel path.
From here, either take the shuttle bus or continue on the gravel path to the House.
From the House, turn left and continue along the gravel path until you reach the bridge where the gate to West Park is. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Outdoor Spaces (West Park)
- This information is for the access point located on the left side of the estate.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located just beyond the bridge along the path, leading west from the House.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a sliding bolt lock.
- The width of the gap is 146cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a grassed play area, parkland and woodland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel, bonded gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- Being natural parkland slopes and slight hills are through out the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (Front Park)
- From the Visitor Centre, cross the road using the dropped kerbs and enter the main property gate. There is a slight slope either side of the road.
Continue 10m along the gravel path and from here, either take the shuttle bus or continue on the gravel path to the House.
From the House, turn right and continue along the slightly sloped path, past the Orangery Restaurant on your right and the Front Park is directly ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Outdoor Spaces (Front Park)
- This information is for the access point located on the right side of the estate.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located along the gravel path heading east from the House.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
- Footpaths are not available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- Natural parkland slopes and slight hills are throughout the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
