Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • There is no charge although a donation is appreciated for upkeep of the equipment.

Route to (the Orangery Restaurant)

  • From the visitor centre, cross the road using the dropped kerbs and enter the main property gate.
    There is a slight slope either side of the road.
    Continue ahead for 10m along the gravel path.
    Either take the shuttle bus or continue on the gravel path to the House.
    Turn right and continue along the gravel path up a slight slope to the Orangery Restaurant.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of restaurant.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarkedno handrails.
  • Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 66cm.
  • A step free alternative entrance is available through the side door from the patio.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and table service (on request only).
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • There is a counter over 85cm high with a tray rail.
  • The counter is 90cm high.
  • There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

  • There are tables and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.
  • The seating area does not have: a priority table and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.

Entrance (Patio)

  • The entrance surveyed is located on the right side of the Orangery Café.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 66cm.

Picnic Area (Patio)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located next to the Orangery Restaurant.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are tables.
  • Some chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The surface height of the lowest table is 68cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • All of the surface in the picnic area is smooth and even.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room

  • Access into the room is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 92cm.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The height of the baby change table is 90cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever.
  • There is no seating available in the room.
  • There is a toilet in the parent and baby room.
  • Waste bins include: a nappy bin, a general waste bin with lid and a sanitary bin.

Standard Toilet
