Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and cycles. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass, soft toy and communication cards.
- You can borrow these from the stableyard visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- There are children's bikes available to borrow.
There is an accessible bus that goes to the stableyard and back from the overflow car park on busy days only.
Route to (the Shore Trail and Farmyard)
- Exit the shore car park via the path to the left of the car park map.
Turn right onto the path.
The shore trail will start approximately 300 metres along this path, on the right. The farmyard will be on the left. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Hikes and Trails (Shore Trail)
- The trail is approximately 1.5 miles long.
- From the shore trail access point, follow the path to the right when you come to a fork.
Continue straight on and go through a black gate or the open space next to it.
Pass Strangford Sailing Club on the left.
Continue until you reach Audley's Quay.
At this point turn around and retrace the path back to the start. - The trail is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, gravel, compacted gravel and mud.
- The route is clearly signposted.
- The route has handheld maps.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
Picnic Area (Farmyard)
- The following information describes the picnic area located within the farmyard.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 77cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 77cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.
Toilet with Adaptations (Farmyard - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located at the start of the trail in the farmyard.
- Access into the toilet is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 93cm.
- The door has a sliding bolt lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 146cm x 270cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 79cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: hand dryer.
- The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm.
- The height of the toilet roll holder is 94cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The height of the wash basin is 73cm.
- The height of the soap dispenser is 83cm.
- The height of the hand dryer is 102cm.
- The height of the baby change is 94cm.
- There is no emergency alarm.
- There is not a shelf.
- The cubicle has: a waste bin without lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
- The cubicle does not have a mirror and coat hooks.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the toilet seat, the floor, the dropdown rail, all grab rails and the internal door.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Standard Toilet (Farmyard)
- Access into the toilet is via a step.
- There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 70cm.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 75cm.
- The wash basin tap type is sensor.
- Lighting levels are low.
- There are no hand dryers.
